The head of the East Java Province Human Resources Development Agency, Aries Agung Paewai, confirmed this information. He said that the positive test results were known on Friday (1/1/2021) afternoon, starting with the swab test on Thursday (12/31/2020) afternoon.

“It is known from the results of the tests that came out yesterday afternoon. The test was on Thursday afternoon,” he confirmed on Saturday afternoon.

According to him, the last month the activities of the governor of East Java were very busy in matters of control of Covid-19 and economic recovery from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, he admitted that he did not know the exact place where Governor Khofifah was infected.

“We do not know where it was infected, the truth is that health protocols always apply to each activity,” he added.

According to the Covid-19 data update from the East Java Covid-19 Management Working Group, the number of Covid-19 cases in East Java as of January 1, 2021 was recorded as 85,039 cases after receiving 887 additional cases.

Of that number, 72,938 cases (85.77 percent) recovered, 6,201 (7.29 percent) were treated, and 5,900 cases (6.94 percent) died.

Up to 8 regions have red zone status or areas with a high risk of transmission of Covid-19, namely Tulungagung, Bojonegoro, Tuban, Malang City, Lumajang, Blitar City, Mojokerto, Madiun City.

While another 30 areas have the status of orange zone or areas with moderate risk of transmission of Covid-19, namely the city of Surabaya, Kota Batu, Pacitan, Ponorogo, Trenggalek, Blitar, Malang, Kediri, Jember, Bondowoso, Situbondo, Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Sidoarjo, Kota. Mojokerto and Jombang.
