JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – DKI Jakarta DPRD Vice President Mohammad Taufik supports Governor Anies Baswedan’s decision to remove the emergency brake to avoid hospitalization due to the increasingly widespread transmission of Covid-19.

This is because Anies’ decision was based on the instructions of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, that health should come first before talking about restarting the economic sector.

Taufik admitted that he was surprised by statements by various ministers who seemed to think that Anies’ decision had deviated or was against the central government.

“What Anies Baswedan has decided is in line with President Joko Widodo’s instructions when he opened a plenary cabinet meeting at the State Palace on Monday (7/9/2020). He also found it strange that several Jokowi ministers criticized a policy that was in line with the president’s instructions.

The man who is also chairman of the DKI Jakarta Gerindra Regional Leadership Council revealed that the Jokowi ministers should have supported the Anies PSBB’s decision because it was in line with the instructions of the number 1 in Indonesia.

“Don’t be unfair because Anies Baswedan is the one talking or making decisions,” Taufik said.

“In fact, the policy adopted by Anies and which will take effect on September 14, 2020 will affect the gears of the capital’s economy. However, this is a step to save the lives of Jakarta residents and in the process to break the chain of transmission Covid-19 “. he said.

On Wednesday (8/9/2020), Anies Baswedan decided that the PSBB in DKI Jakarta would return to the start of the pandemic, not a transitional PSBB.

The situation is already an emergency because the reference hospitals of Covid-19 handlers in Jakarta are getting more crowded and the death rate from the corona virus is accelerating.

This decision was answered negatively by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, who is also the President of the Committee for the Management of Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN).

Airlangga responded from the business and economic paradigm, even stating that “there is no limited health capacity.”
