One resident, Suren Zarakyan, 50, said he had moved to Lachin from Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, in the 1990s.

He moved to the region after Armenia captured the region in the first battles between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Since living there, Zarakyan has been married and has two children. He added that he had farmed bees before the last battle broke out.

He admitted that he was embarrassed when he learned of the peace agreement.

This is because through the peace agreement, the territory that has been captured by Azerbaijan will become the property of this country and will open the way for the deployment of Moscow troops in the enclave.

“I expect more from Russia and sooner,” he said.

“But Russia is interested in the base and its objectives. It does not matter if it is a base in Azerbaijan or in Armenia. It is interested in not leaving Turkey here,” Zarakyan continued.
