Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Vice President of the Board of Trustees of the Gerindra Party Fadli zon assess that the interests of the government are more dominant than the interests of the people in Omnibus Copyright Law (Ciptaker Act) that was passed by DPR on Monday (10/5).
According to him, the DPR must have had difficulty synchronizing the draft regulation that changed 1,203 articles of 79 different laws in a short period of time.
“How can the parliament carry out a study and synchronization of such colossal articles in such a short time? It is very difficult. So what happens is that the parliament conforms to the wishes of the government,” Fadli said in his statement received. CNNIndonesia.com, Wednesday (7/10).
“Perhaps on some issues the parliament can include a series of public interests. But the interests of the government are much more dominant,” he added.
According to him, this is not the democratic practice desired by the Indonesian people.
Also, the source of the problem with the efforts used in drafting the Ciptaker Act was inappropriate.
According to data from the World Economic Forum, he said, the main obstacles to investment in Indonesia are known to be corruption, bureaucratic inefficiency, instability of policies and fiscal regulations. Fadli also questioned the reasons for the drafting of the Ciptaker Law on labor issues.
“But what is being the objective of the Omnibus Law is an employment issue? What is the story like? So, the diagnosis and the prescription from the beginning are not connected,” he said.
The former vice president of DPR RI also understands the public’s anxiety and anger towards the current Ciptaker Act.
According to him, there are a number of issues that disturb the sense of justice of the workers, such as the compensation scheme for dismissed workers, the elimination of the district minimum wage (UMK) to the provincial minimum wage (UMP), the issue of rights extended rest, granting of work periods and job opportunities. for five days a week that is removed.
“In general, this Omnibus Law does not provide a sense of justice, not only for workers, but also for society in general,” he said.

On the other hand, Fadli believes that the Ciptaker Act has neglected public participation. According to him, discussing all the material in such a short time was impossible, especially amidst various limitations and restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“So, the discussion of the omnibus law does not pay attention to votes and public participation,” he said.
Fadli also considered that the Ciptaker Act could cause instability. He is of the opinion that the massive pushback in various areas, including the threat of a nationwide strike, shows that the Ciptaker Act will only create scandal.
If it continues to apply, it continued, this situation could damage labor relations and harm workers and employers.
Fadli assessed that what was expected by the Ciptaker Act was difficult to achieve. According to him, this regulation will not attract investment because it creates legal insecurity.
In fact, he said, investors generally want legal certainty in the midst of a recession in a country.
“Just try to count, how many hundreds or thousands, implementing regulations, starting with government regulations, ministers, governors, down to the lower regional regulations that need to be changed and adjusted to this general law?” Fadli said.
“Instead of being lured in, investors will see this as a new form of legal uncertainty,” he added.
This statement by Fadli Zon is different from the attitude of his party, Gerindra in the RPD that supports the Ciptaker Omnibus Law is passed. Even during the final hearing on the endorsement of the plenary session, last Monday (5/10), there were no objections from Gerindra.
The rejection only came from two factions, PKS and Democrats.
DPR is known to have passed the Ciptaker bill while monitoring security forces in front of the DPR building on Monday (10/5).
This safeguard is to anticipate manifestations of labor and civil society elements that reject the Ciptaker Law.
