JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Diving and buff masks are considered less effective in protecting against the corona virus (Covid-19). The spokesperson for the Covid-19 Management Working Group (Satgas) Wiku Adisasmito admitted this.

The Wiku statement also supports a ban on the use of diving masks and hobbyists on the commuter line (KRL).

“A diving mask or buff is a mask with a single layer and is too thin to be more likely to penetrate,” Wiku said via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Tuesday (9/15/2020), quoted on Kompas.com.

Also, Wiku explained, diving masks are usually easy to put around the neck, so their use is pointless.

In addition, masks are currently an important tool to prevent the transmission of the corona virus, so people should wear quality masks.

According to Wiku, people can wear surgical masks or cloth masks that consist of three layers of cotton cloth.
