TEXAS, KOMPAS.com – A high school principal in the state of Texas, United States (USA), is willing to travel for days to meet the last year he misses.

Virdie Montgomery, principal at Wylie High School, spent 80 hours driving 1,300 km over 12 days.

Reporting from CNN On Friday (5/1/2020), he did so in order to meet 612 seniors at his school.

With the help of his wife, Montgomery was motivated to make this visit after looking at the calendar and realized that all of the senior programs for seniors had to be canceled because permanent housing orders were implemented in Texas.

“We are a school steeped in tradition,” he said.

“These children have seen what their elders get.”

Montgomery really missed his students, and he was willing to travel for days, drive his car for hours, and find his student’s home address with Google Maps.

The principal said he would load the planned highways to be visited that day, so that students could predict where he was and when he would arrive.

The Montgomery journey generally begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends around 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm local time.

“Even now that I’ve done this, you can still feel ‘what else can I do.'”

“Because I know how they feel, I know they feel they are losing,” said the director, quoting CNN.

“My wife spent 80 hours driving 1,300 km in the last 12 days to visit my seniors. I love her very much.”

On Wednesday (04/29/2020) Montgomery uploaded a summary of his visit, after meeting more than 600 students.
