Din Syamsuddin is not included in the Executive Board. Was there a cleanup operation at MUI?

jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The Executive Director of the Indonesian Political Opinion (IPO), Dedi Kurnia Syah, assessed that the loss of Din Syamsuddin and Teuku Zulkarnain in the management structure of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) suggests that there has been a cleanup of people critical of the government in the organization.

This is because Din and Zulkarnain are known to openly criticize any government policy that is not on the side of the people.

“The loss of critical figures in the government, such as Din Syamsuddin, Teuku Zulkarnain, can be interpreted as an effort to cleanse MUI’s body, while MUI should not have to worry about such critical figures,” Dedi said in his brief message to media teams, on Friday (11/27).

He also hopes that MUI’s management for the period 2020 to 2025 can remain fierce towards the government without Din and Zulkarnain.

At the very least, management for the period from 2020 to 2025 must ensure that MUI is not a tool of government power.

“Do not accept the new structure, MUI is much closer to being a tool of government power than a tool of society for the benefit of the people,” he explained.

Meanwhile, regarding the figure of Miftachul Akhyar, who was elected president of the MUI, Dedi said that he is not surprised.

So far, Miftachul is a very worthy figure to become the General President of the MUI for the next five years.
