Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Chairman of the Board of the Muhammadiyah Pondok Labu Sub-district, Din Syamsuddin According to Abdul Mu’ti, the offer of a deputy minister of education and culture (wamendikbud) as a seat undermines the Muhammadiyah organization.
“The appointment (offer) of Abdul Mu’ti as Deputy Minister of Education and Culture has the tone of denigrating the great organization Muhammadiyah, pioneer of education and the true national educational movement,” Din said in a written statement to CNNIndonesia.com, Thursday (12/24).
Former PP president Muhammadiyah said that President Joko Widodo must have knowledge of history and nationality, so that he has the wisdom to place a person and an organization properly.
“For Muhammadiyah, holding a government position is not a big problem, because Muhammadiyah is independent and autonomous enough to be a strategic and critical partner of the government, commensurately,” he said.
For this reason, Din considered that Mu’ti’s refusal to offer a position to accompany the Minister of Education and Culture No one Makarim was the correct attitude.
According to him, this decision reflects the attitude of the true members of Muhammadiyah, that is, not insane, rejecting positions that are not in accordance with their capabilities and positions that undermine the morale of the organization.
“The reason (he denies) that the inability to carry out the mandate is simply an attitude of tawadhu,” he said.
Previously, the general secretary of the PP, Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti, decided to reject the offer to be deputy minister of education and culture in the Indonesian cabinet, advancing the 2019-2024 term.
“After going through various considerations, I decided not to join the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet as a deputy minister,” Mu’ti said.
Mu’ti admitted that he had been contacted by the Minister of State, Pratikno, and the Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim. Initially, he stated that he was willing to join if the mandate was granted.
But that decision changed. He gave up his intention after measuring his own ability to carry out the mandate. Mu’ti hopes that this decision is the best option.
Previously, a document listing Abdul Mu’ti’s name as a candidate for vice minister of education and culture would be sworn in by President Jokowi along with 5 other vice ministers yesterday Wednesday (12/23).
However, after some time a new document appeared listing only 5 vice ministers to be appointed by Jokowi. The document does not contain the name Mu’ti. Jokowi only appointed 5 vice ministers.
