The PDIP rejected Din Syamsuddin’s assumption that Abdul Mu’ti, the offer of the Deputy Minister of Education and Culture for PP Secretary General Muhammadiyah, was disparaging Muhammadiyah. DPR RI PDIP faction member Hendrawan Supratikno said that covering strategic positions had been carefully calculated.

“In our opinion, condescending thoughts are definitely not in the dictionary of consideration or judgment, it is difficult if covering strategic positions is evaluated with immeasurable and subjective aspects,” Hendrawan said when contacted on Thursday (12/24/2020).

Hendrawan suggested that Din ask President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) directly. This is because Jokowi has the prerogative right to determine who will help him in the cabinet.

“You have to ask the president who has the prerogative to choose candidates. Of course, the president has considerations that are not fully communicated to the public,” he said.

The PDIP politician also respects Mu’ti’s decision not to accept the offer as Vice Minister of Education and Culture. According to him, the opinion expressed by Din was speculative.

“I also respect the decision of Pak Abdul Mu’ti, whose political acumen and skill invite respect. However, tying this decision to the parameters called Pak Din will lead to a series of speculative assumptions,” he said.
