JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan decided to re-implement Large Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) on September 14, 2020. The Jakarta provincial government took over PSBB after Covid-19 positive cases tended to increase.

Anies firmly stated that he must pull the “emergency brake” to stop the transitional PSBB on Wednesday (9/9/2020) and return it to the strict policy of the Jakarta PSBB.

“Looking at this emergency situation in Jakarta, there is no other option than the decision to pull the emergency brake. This means that we are forced to apply the PSBB just like the start of the pandemic. This is the emergency brake that we must put, “said Anies. Between, Friday (11/9/2020).

Anies’ reason for making this decision for Jakarta was due to the three indicators that really concern the provincial government of DKI Jakarta, namely the mortality rate, the availability of isolation beds and the special ICU for Covid-19 and the rate of positive cases in Jakarta.

“In two weeks, the mortality rate has risen again, by a low percentage, but nominally it has risen again. So the maximum available bed in a month is likely to be full if we do not apply strict restrictions,” Anies added.

With the strict implementation of the PSBB, Anies forced most offices to apply to work from home or Work from home (FMH). Only 11 business sectors were still able to work from the office during this strict PSBB.

The eleven sectors include health, food, construction, energy, finance, telecommunications, finance, logistics, hospitality, satisfaction of daily needs, strategic industries and basic services.

Anies’ statement was not in line with what was expressed by the central government through the coordinating minister of Economic Affairs (Menko Ekonomi) Airlangga Hartarto, who said that the offices could still operate at a maximum of 50 percent.

He said that most office activities apply flexible working hours. Therefore, office activities can still operate at up to 50 percent.

“DKI will return to PSBB next week, but we convey to you that most of the office activities are implementing it Flexible working hours, about 50 percent at home and 50 percent in offices, 11 sectors remain open, “said Airlangga in video conference, Thursday (10/9/2020).

Airlangga explained that the decision of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, to toughen the PSBB was made again due to the high spread of Covid-19 in the capital. According to him, the spread occurred mainly through public transport.

“DKI is actually transitioning from PSBB completely, and they want it to be done completely again. Because the majority of those who were exposed to the existing data, 62 percent (corona positive patients) in the Hospital Kemayoran relied on public transportation, “Airlangga said.

He also admitted that he had contacted Anies to reconsider the imposition of odd-even since last August 10 after being revoked.

“So several things that need to be evaluated are related to odd pairs. This has been communicated to the DKI governor,” Airlangga said.

Airlangga also emphasized that the government budget is sufficient to cover health facilities (health establishments) according to the needs in the Covid-19 case.

“The government emphasizes that there is no limited health capacity because the government has sufficient funds,” Airlangga was quoted as saying by Antara.

Airlangga also stated that the government would continue to increase the capacity of hospitals and health facilities to care for the growing number of Covid-19 cases.
