JAKARTA, iNews.id – The politician from Gerindra and the vice president of Commission III of the DPR, Desmond J. Mahesa, protested before Internet users for his statement in which he questioned the existence of the Laskar Islamic Defenders Front (FPI). One of them is the head of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) faction of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction, Tifatul Sembiring.
Desmond questioned the family of the six FPI Laskar members who were shot to death at KM 50 of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road during the DPR Commission III (RDPU) General Hearing Meeting last Thursday.
“I am confused, if this is the army, this is for war, this is not true. I, the head of Commission III, also see this in a state of war. When I had paramilitary troops it was like a revolutionary war, my grandfather was also a Laskar commander, but the goal was independence. So what is the army’s goal now? Do you want to establish an Islamic state? That is against the constitution, ”Desmond said at the hearing.
Desmond joked about the term “laskar” used by the FPI in escorting Grand Imam Habib Rizieq Shihab. According to him, the use of the term laskar was as if Indonesia were at war. Suddenly, Desmond’s statement prompted several comments from netizens.
His personal Instagram account @desmondjunaidimahesa has become Internet users of the month. Some of Desmond’s uploads were flooded with flashy comments.
