Densus investigates mini-market charity cash fund for terrorist groups

Special detachment or Densus 88 Anti-terror is still investigating the mode of flow of funds used by terrorist groups Jamaah Islamiyah (JI), including a source of charity box at the convenience store.

“Densus 88 will collaborate with investigators and see what it means we will develop the evidence there, what kind of modes are used, right? Police, Friday (11/12).

Argo said Densus 88 will also investigate whether there are other terrorist networks that use this type of abuse mode.

He said that the investigation of the flow of these funds will be used as evaluation material to eradicate acts of terrorism in Indonesia.

“Densus will study this mode, whose network and so on, then Densus will explore and Task Force investigators will evaluate existing events,” he said.

Previously, the National Police Headquarters revealed that one of the sources of financing for the terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah came from the misuse of charity boxes in mini-markets.

This group uses the funds to send terrorists to Syria for military training and terrorist tactics.

Apart from that, the funds were also used to pay the routine salaries of the Markaziyah Jemaah Islamiyah leaders, as well as the purchase of weapons and explosives that would be used for amaliah or jihad.

“And the misuse of the charity fund function we found was located in mini-markets in various regions of Indonesia,” said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyanto, at the Headquarters Police, on Monday (11/30).

The results of the Densus Anti-terror investigation show that the Jemaah Islamiyah group is still growing in Indonesia. JI itself is an officially banned organization by the state.

This organization participates in a number of criminal acts of terrorism in Indonesia, such as the Bali Bombings I and II, the JW Marriot Bomb, the 2000 Christmas Eve Bomb, as well as a number of other acts of terrorism in Indonesia that have resulted in some 2,000 people become victims.
