JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Health Minister (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that the postponement of two waves of deliveries of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine to Indonesia will have an impact on the implementation of the third phase of vaccination.
The Ministry of Health had previously confirmed that the third vaccination phase would begin in April 2021.
“It will definitely have an effect, because April (vaccine supply) will be very little. We only have 7 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine,” Budi said at a virtual press conference on Saturday night (3/27/2021).

Earlier, Budi revealed that Covax-GAVI, as AstraZeneca’s vaccine supplier, decided to postpone the delivery of the vaccine to Indonesia.
The delay in question points to two vaccine delivery plans in March and April 2021 or batches II and III.
“On the schedule we got the free Covax-GAVI vaccine. Yesterday, the AstraZeneca vaccine was free for 1.1 million doses. Also, the plan is to receive 2.5 million again on March 22 and 7.8 million of dose in April, “Budi said.
“It turns out this is pending. It is delayed due to the Indian vaccine embargo issue,” he continued.
Budi explained that currently Covid-19 cases in India are on the rise again.
So that local authorities do not allow vaccines to leave the country. Furthermore, it is currently the largest AstraZeneca vaccine produced in India.

Therefore, Covax-GAVI reallocated vaccine distribution to several countries.
“So they postponed the delivery to March-April,” Budi continued.
He said that until now there has been no definitive confirmation of how long the postponement of the delivery of the AstraZeneca batch II and III vaccines to Indonesia will take place.
Covax-GAVI only provides an estimated timetable which is also uncertain.
“So far there has been no definitive confirmation from them. But they said (until) around May (2021),” Budi said.
“But it’s not sure. But they gave an indication around May,” he continued.

As previously reported, the government has established a schedule for the third phase of the Covid-19 vaccination that will begin in April 2021.
This is based on the Decree of the Director General for Disease Prevention and Control Number HK.02.02 / 4/1/2021 on the Technical Guidelines for vaccination in the context of the coronavirus disease pandemic (Covid- 19).
At this stage, vaccination will target vulnerable people from geospatial, social and economic aspects.
According to the Covid-19 Vaccination Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Siti Nadia Tarmizi, the vulnerable groups in question are the people most vulnerable to the transmission of Covid-19 or those who live in the red zone.
Meanwhile, currently the implementation of the national vaccination program has been running in two stages, namely the first stage and the second stage.
Both stages take place from January to April 2021.
In these two stages, vaccination is aimed at health workers, market traders, educators (teachers, lecturers, educators), religious leaders, representatives of the people, government officials and the State Civil Apparatus (ASN), forces of security (TNI-Polri), tourism workers. (hotel staff and restaurant staff), public services (Damkar, BPBD, BUMN, BPJS, Head / Village apparatus), public transport workers, athletes and journalists.
