Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub) and the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta held a meeting on Thursday (9/10/20) afternoon. The two parties sat together to discuss transportation policies, including regarding inline motorcycle taxis (ojol) during the full PSBB Large-Scale Social Restrictions starting Monday, September 14, 2020.
Unfortunately, until the meeting ended, there was no certainty about the fate of eyeballs like Grab and Gojek. This means that it is not yet certain whether ojol can carry passengers or not.
Transportation Ministry spokeswoman Adita Irawati did not elaborate on the discussion at the meeting. Still, she gave a little leak on the results of the discussion.
“There are still initial meetings and discussions, there is no final decision yet,” Adita Irawati told CNBC Indonesia when it was confirmed on Thursday night (10/9/20).
Previously, Adita admitted that coordination with the Provincial Government of DKI was still taking place. One of them is through a meeting that took place that afternoon.
“The Provincial Government of DKI will hold talks with the Ministry of Transportation this afternoon,” Adita told CNBC Indonesia on Thursday (10/9/20).
In that meeting, the fate of Ojol will be determined. In the total PSBB in effect from March to August 2020, online motorcycle taxis are prohibited from carrying passengers. Ojol can only transport and deliver goods. Has a similar policy been reinstated?
“Then everything will be discussed at the meeting,” Adita said before the meeting took place.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Transport is committed to actively breaking the transmission chain of Covid 19 in the transport sector, especially public transport.
“For transport control, we have issued Transport PM no 41/2020, which is followed by SE 11,12,13 and 14 for guidance on all modes of transport,” he explained.
“Regarding the total plan of PSBB in DKI Jakarta, we will enter into discussions first with the provincial government of DKI Jakarta so that the goal of preventing the spread of transmission can be achieved and people using transport also continue to get safe and healthy services. “Adita explained.
