Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia– The presidential election in Uncle Sam’s country sets a record for Joe Biden, the opponent of incumbent Donald Trump. The candidate paired with Kamala Harris broke Barack Obama’s record for the most votes in the election to the presidency of the United States (USA).
Written by The Guardian, around 1:00 pm WIB, it garnered 72,071,454 votes. Meanwhile, Obama, in the 2008 presidential election, only got 69,498,516 votes.
While Trump only managed to collect 68,598,918 votes. Even so, the calculations are still being carried out in several states and are not yet finalized.
Quoted from the Washington Post, this year’s participation rate is higher than before. So far, the participation rate has reached 60%.
However, since there are countless votes, the participation rate could go up again. It is even expected to reach 66.1%.
Previously, the highest participation rate was recorded in 1960 at 63.8%. Then breastfeeding; 1964 (62.8%), 1968 (62.5%) and 2016 (60.1%).
