Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The increase in positive cases of Covid-19 has continued to increase by more than 100% that has occurred from the first week of November until now.
“From the first week of November until now 8 weeks have passed, there has been a sharp increase in positive cases from 23,089 to 48,435 or an increase of more than 100%. The increase in cases is not only consuming lives but a heavy burden on the health facilities in Indonesia, “said the Coordinator of the Team of Experts and Government Spokesperson for the management of Covid-19, Professor Wiku Adisasmito, quoted on Wednesday (12/30/2020).
According to his notes, the percentage of places of isolation in Indonesia in December reached 62.63%. While the percentage of ICU reached 55.6% as of December 27, 2020.
“The current challenge in the context of health services is an increase in cases, infrastructure, equipment, logistics, and an increase in cases of health workers, which generates delays in health services. So far the policy is to face these challenges, ”he said.
According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, there are six cities that should receive special attention regarding the availability of beds in hospitals. Among them are Bandung, Sleman, DKI Jakarta, Jember, Semarang City and Makassar City.
In Bandung city, for example, as of (12/26) there were 49 ICU beds available, of which 48 were used. Furthermore, the availability of isolated and used beds was 1,138 and 1,017, respectively. In reference to these data, the occupancy and isolation of the ICU were 98 and 89 percent, respectively.
Then in Sleman, as of December 22, the available and used ICU beds were 32 and 26 respectively. Meanwhile, the available and used isolation beds were 289 and 199 respectively. This means that the hospital occupancy for ICU and Isolation respectively 81 and 70%, respectively.
Conditions in Jakarta are not very different either. As of December 26, the available and used ICU beds were 936 and 736 respectively. The available and used isolation beds were 6,991 and 5,915, respectively. The filling and isolation percentages of the ICU were 79 and 85%, respectively.
Then in Jember on December 25 the available and used ICU beds were 22 and 17 respectively, the available and used isolation beds were 377 and 284, respectively, the ICU occupancy and isolation rates were 77 and 75%, respectively.
Semarang City as of December 26, the available and used ICU beds were 123 and 93, respectively. The isolation beds available and used were 951 and 831, respectively. The percentage of ICU filling and isolation was 76% and 87%.
Finally, the city of Makassar as of December 26. The available and used ICU beds were 86 and 41, respectively, the available and used isolation beds were 1215 and 862, respectively, the percentages of filled and isolation ICUs were 48 and 71%, respectively.
