“If the environment is normal, people do activities on holidays, interact, then there is consumption. But what we see (currently) is that each long holiday increases the number of Covid-19 and economic indicators do not improve or the consumption is not as expected, “said Sri Mulyani virtually. According to him, this factor is being considered by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to cancel the long vacation policy at the end of the year. Jokowi also asked ministers to see what the data looked like during the previous long vacations.
Where, the government really considers whether these long vacations can increase consumption without making the spread of the virus more widespread or quite the opposite, that is, that consumption does not occur and the spread is even greater.
“We have to be careful to see if there is a long public holiday, high mobility but no purchases and additional covid cases that need to be maintained,” said Sri Mulyani.
