LIVE – The regional commander of the Jaya Military Command (Pangdam Jaya), Major General TNI Dudung Abdurachman, is in the spotlight for his comments in which he threatens the dissolution of the mass organization of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) . Dudung’s words were controversial.
The two-star general straightened his statement. He said TNI couldn’t dissolve FPI.
“I will say that if necessary, if necessary, dissolve the FPI, right? TNI Pangdam cannot be dissolved. That must be the government,” Dudung said during a press conference in Kodam Jaya, East Jakarta, on Monday, November 23, 2020.
He stressed that his intention was only when it was necessary to dissolve the FPI. However, he said, TNI has no authority to disband.
“I said if necessary, that’s right. Not us, there is no TNI authority,” Dudung said.
Previously, Major General Dudung was furious at the activities of FPI, which allegedly installed billboards welcoming the arrival of its leader, Habib Rizieq Shihab, at various locations in the capital, including Petamburan Jakarta. Dudung said this to the media team after the troop rally in Monas, Jakarta, on Friday, November 20, 2020.

Dudung initially responded to journalists’ questions about viral videos on social media in which multiple people in TNI uniforms took down Habib Rizieq’s billboards. He admitted that the billboard dismantling action was carried out by TNI soldiers on his orders.
“There (people) dressed in stripes lowered the billboards of Habib Rizieq, that’s my order,” Dudung said.
He stressed that TNI soldiers were deployed because PP satpol officers were having trouble removing the billboards from Habib Rizieq. After being removed from Satpol PP, according to him, FPI put the billboards back up.
Dudung stressed that his party will not hesitate to take action if the FPI still has the courage to put up billboards or banners that do not comply with regulations.
He said that the TNI apparatus would move if there was an invitation or provocation that would disrupt state security. He was furious that if it couldn’t be regulated yet, then FPI should be disbanded.
“If necessary, the FPI just dissolve it. Just dissolve it! If you try with TNI, come on. Now how are they doing their thing? I say it’s my order,” he said. (ren)
