Merdeka.com – The high number of crown or covid-19 patients in East Java means that referral hospitals treat patients experiencing overload or overcapacity. To cope with the growing number of crown patients that continues to grow, the Provincial Government of East Java is preparing an emergency hospital.
The preparation of the emergency hospital for crown patients was revealed by the Chairman of the Curative Group Task Group in Covid-19 East Java Province, Dr. Joni Wahyuhadi. He stated, in theory, that a referral hospital handling patients with a specific crown had experienced an excess of patients.
From existing data, to Surabaya has treated 798 patients with a bed capacity of just 403 pieces. Therefore, Surabaya experienced an overload of 395 patients.
For Sidoarjo, he currently treats around 212 patients, with a bed capacity of only 160 units. Therefore, for the Sidoarjo region, 62 patients have been overloaded. As for the Gresik area, there are 121 patients treated, with a bed capacity of only 24. So that it has an excess capacity of 97 patients.
“Theoretically our hospital has been overloaded. The overload is quite alarming,” he stressed Sunday (5/3).
He claimed that, for the most possible action in a relatively quick time, his party was preparing the infrastructure of the Airlangga University Hospital (RSUA).
“So, the provincial government together with the Ministry of Education and donors are trying to open a hospital in Unair, if God wants, it will be completed 1 or 2 days and approximately 200 more (patients) will be able to be occupied,” he said.
Although it could be operated on later, he said, the hospital would still experience shortages if it had to accommodate all patients. For this reason, the Ministry of Health adopted a policy that not all people with PDP status or positive confirmations had to be hospitalized.
“It is not necessary that all people with PDP or confirmed (positive) status be admitted to the hospital. As long as their homes, behavior and behavior are eligible,” he said.
He also mentioned that he had received an order from the Governor and permission from the Ministry of Health to be able to use the Humanities Research Center Building in Jalan Indrapura, Surabaya, to be used as an emergency hospital. He said the capacity there was large enough to accommodate an additional 500 corona patients.
“I received an order from Governor Obu and I also received permission from the Ministry of Health to use the Humanities Research Center building as an emergency hospital. The capacity is quite large, more than 500,” he said.
Meanwhile, the number of crown positive patients (covid-19) in East Java continued to increase, increasing by 77 to 1,114. While the number of patients under surveillance (PDP) in East Java also continues to increase to reach 3,319 people, which is currently under supervision is only 1,593 people.
