Corona Case Soaring, East Java, highest on May 9

Positive case Corona virus (Covid-19) in East Java increased 128 patients per Saturday (9/5). The incorporation of these patients is the highest at the provincial level at the national level.

Now, the total number of positive patients in East Java reaches 1,409 people. A total of 1,036 patients (73.53 percent) are still being treated.

Meanwhile, according to data from the Covid-19 Working Group, the number of positive cases in East Java as of May 9 was 135 cases. So the total is 1,419 cases.


According to data from the Ministry of Health published on Saturday (8/5), the increase in cases in East Java today exceeded the addition of cases in all provinces. For example, DKI Jakarta increased 101 cases, West Java 33 cases and Central Java 26 cases.

According to data from the East Java Covid-19 Working Group on Acceleration of Manipulation, the addition of 128 patients consisted of 1 case in Lumajang Regency, 2 in Nganjuk, 3 in Bondowoso, 1 in Probolinggo City, 2 in Lamongan, 1 at Malang Regency, 1 at Mojokerto Regency.

Then, 1 in the Probolinggo Regency, 1 in the Jombang Regency, 18 in the Sidoarjo Regency, 21 cases in the Pasuruan Regency and 75 patients in the City of Surabaya.

Furthermore, the number of patients who converted negatively or recovered also increased by 3 people today. The details are, 1 in Probolinggo City, 1 in Jombang Regency and 1 in Surabaya City.

With these additions, the total number of patients was recovered in East Java, while this is 230 patients, or the equivalent of 17.72 percent of total cases.

However, the number of patients who died also increased by 2 people. Namely, 1 case in Sidoarjo Regency and 1 in the city of Surabaya. The total death rate in East Java has reached 143 people, equivalent to 10.15 percent.

Deputy Public Relations Coordinator of Task Force Surabaya Covid-19 for Manipulation Acceleration M Fikser said the increase in cases, especially in Surabaya, was related to rapid tests and massive polymerase chain reaction tests (PCR) performed during the PSBB.

“The figures that are happening right now due to the efforts of the Surabaya city government that we have done with rapid tests and large-scale samples,” said Fikser, at the Surabaya city council, on Saturday (9/5).

Previously, the government spokesman specifically to handle Covid-19 Achmad Yurianto said there were 533 positive cases withdrawn from the market Covid-19 on Saturday (9/5). The addition of more than 500 new cases is the largest since President Joko Widodo announced Corona’s first case.
