A volunteer from AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine trial died in Brazil. Reflecting on this, DPR RI Commission IX member Netty Prasetiyani Aher called for the process of purchasing Corona vaccine in Indonesia to be made transparent.
“All processes must be transparent. If it is said that phase 3 clinical trials have been conducted in several countries and an emergency use permit already exists (emergency use authorization), then the results of the data have to be displayed in order to respond to people’s concerns, “Netty told reporters on Thursday (10/22/2020).
Netty assessed that the public is now beginning to worry about the safety of the Corona vaccine. He also asked the government not to provide the public with vaccines that are still “half finished.”
“Because currently in the community, the problem is running wild if this vaccine is safe or not. Do not let the administered vaccine be half finished, this will put the population in danger,” said Netty.
In addition, the vice president of the PKS DPR RI faction highlighted the use of the budget in the procurement of Corona vaccines. Netty urged the government to provide detailed information on the prices of the vaccines.
“It must be clear what the price of the vaccine is, what the public and what group of people should pay for free. The government is obliged to report regularly and in detail. And it is appropriate that the acquisition of this vaccine is solely to protect people from the COVID-19 pandemic and not to be a project. by people who have an interest, “he added.
Netty reminded the government to continue to strengthen health protocols despite mass vaccinations. According to him, vaccines are not a sign that the Corona virus pandemic is over.
“There must be an education that goes directly to the public that vaccination does not mean COVID-19 free, the government must be able to anticipate public euphoria. The implementation of health protocols must be strengthened, so that this vaccine euphoria is a habit of 3M and 3T. ambyar“Netty said.
