The COVID-19 pandemic has closed several schools, thus implementing a distance learning system from home. Commission X DPR RI President Syaiful Huda said that schools with face-to-face learning will reopen in January 2021.
“Yes repair (The school opens in January), “Huda told reporters on Friday (11/20/2020).
Commission X welcomes the plan to open the school. But Huda stressed the need to implement strict COVID-19 health protocols.
“We support the opening of schools for face-to-face learning. But it must be done with strict health protocols because currently the transmission of the COVID-19 outbreak is still ongoing. It has even shown an increasing trend in recent weeks, ”Huda said.
According to Huda, opening schools for face-to-face learning is a necessity, especially in the regions. This is because distance or online learning cannot function effectively due to lack of supportive infrastructure and uneven access to the Internet.
“In some areas, students during the COVID-19 pandemic were not really able to study because schools were closed. This condition is in accordance with the latest World Bank (WB) report on the world of education in Indonesia, which will represent a threat learning loss or missing the learning period for most students in Indonesia, “he said.
Additionally, Huda assessed that there was an increase in the number of child laborers during the pandemic. This happens to children from families with financial difficulties.
