JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Civil Society Coalition for Security Sector Reform condemned the anarchist action that took place at the Ciracas Police Headquarters and shops in Jalan Raya Bogor, East Jakarta, on Saturday (8/29/2020) by the morning.

The mob attack was sparked by the provocation of a TNI member with the initials MI at a classmate.

“We condemn all forms of violence in the form of vigilantism against citizens or in the offices of government agencies, in this case the police offices,” said Ikhsan Yosarie, researcher in human rights and security sector at the SETARA Institute, in a written statement, on Saturday (8/29/2020).

According to Ikhsan, the act of taking justice into his own hands for any reason cannot be legally justified.

In a rule of law, all problems related to illegal actions must be resolved through legal channels.

The solution must also respect the principle of due legal process and not due to violent acts by the judge himself for revenge.

His party urged all parties involved in the violence to be properly and fairly prosecuted.

Those who are involved in acts of violence and against the law must appear in court.

“So that not taking similar actions becomes part of the deterrent effect for others. The lack of punishment in cases like this causes similar cases to be repeated,” he said.

In addition, his party also urged TNI and the Polri leadership to immediately control their troops to reduce the tension that arose in and around the Ciracas area.

He said the leaders of TNI and Polri must take immediate early action to prevent the situation and conditions from deteriorating.

Likewise, the role of the government and the security forces is obliged to guarantee a sense of security for the population of Jakarta, especially Ciracas and its surroundings.

Because the events that happened have caused insecurity in society.

“Therefore, it is important that the government and the security forces guarantee that sense of security and stop sweeping and attacking society that are not in accordance with existing legal procedures,” he said.

The anarchic action of the masses was provoked by the provocation of unscrupulous members of TNI with the initials MI to their comrades.

“From the Prada MI cell phone, it was discovered that the person in question reported to the class of 2017 that he had been beaten, his superior called to tell him that he had been beaten,” said Pangdam Jaya, TNI Maj. Gen. Dudung Abdurachman at a press conference at the TNI Center for Journalists in Puspen, headquarters of TNI Cilangkap.

However, when the statement of the member of the Army Law Directorate was compared with the statements of nine civilian witnesses, it turned out that MI had lied.

According to Dudung, the actual chronology is that MI experienced a single accident while riding a motorcycle around Jalan Kelapa Dua Wetan, Ciracas, East Jakarta, to be precise, near the Arundina traffic light crossing.

In addition to being reinforced by witness statements at the crime scene (TKP), the single accident was also proven by recorded closed circuit television (CCTV) footage from one of the stores around the scene.

“In the 37th minute broadcast, MI fell around the corner, there were no blows from behind, head-on or blows,” he said.

Upon contacting all his colleagues, MI admitted to being the victim of beatings.

“The information in the social networks in question was attacked and there were several sentences that aroused emotions so that with a spirit of excessive and uncontrolled violence, they did harm,” he said.

Dudung added that up to six of the approximately 100 people involved in the destruction of the Ciracas police headquarters and public facilities in East Jakarta had been the subject of an intense investigation by the Jayakarta Military Military Police.
