The cops cut off the suspect’s path as they were about to turn, the two argued.

Polda Metro Jaya traffic director commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo explained that this case originated from a dispute between Imam and Handana prior to the accident.

At first, Handana felt classy because the Imam cut off the path when he was about to turn from Jalan Raya Ragunan to Jalan Mangga Besar.

The two had stopped and had a fight in front of Suluh Junior High School (SMP) in South Jakarta.

“Then there was a dispute on the road. Then a police car cut up and stopped the Hyundai car and according to the suspect’s confession, the police beat him there,” Sambodo said on Saturday (12/26/2020).

The policemen beat the suspect and then got into the car, where the suspect was chased.

During the dispute, Handana admitted to having suffered violent acts in the form of beatings by the Imam, who then went directly to the car and continued his journey.

Handana, who did not accept the treatment, pursued the car driven by the Imam in Jalan Raya Ragunan.

It was during this chase that the suspect shot down Imam’s car and lost it, jumping over the barricade into the opposite lane.

Deliberately collided with a police officer’s car, because he did not agree to be hit

The suspect admitted that he did so deliberately with the intention of stopping the Imam’s vehicle and asking him to take responsibility for the alleged beating.

“The suspect admitted that he tried to stop the Innova car driven by Aiptu IC to hold him responsible because the suspect previously admitted to being hit by Aiptu IC,” Sambodo said.

Witness testimony who saw the accident, the car driven by Handana was passed from the left lane.

After that, Handana’s car suddenly took the right lane and collided with Imam’s car that was right next to him.

“There were two witnesses who saw a black Hyundai car passing on the left and then collided or collided with the Innova car, causing the Innova car to lose control,” Sambodo said.

CCTV recorded the seconds of the accident

The information obtained was later reinforced by evidence in the form of video recordings from surveillance cameras or CCTV installed in a store near the site.

The video clearly shows the seconds that Handana’s car was brushed against by Imam’s car until it lost control and then “flew” into the opposite lane.

“What is very clear is the evidence in the form of CCTV images that we obtained from a store not far from the scene, which shows the Hyundai driver crashing his car into the Innova car,” Sambodo said.

The priest, who could not control the speed of his vehicle, ran over three motorcyclists and only stopped after hitting the wall of the building on the side of the road.

Victim’s witness: two cars brushed against each other

The accident victim and witness, M. Sharif, said that he had seen Handana and Imam’s car hitting each other before finally stopping in front of SMP Suluh and arguing.

“If you keep pinching, the police car can roll over. It can be stopped up to SMP Suluh, then cut by a police car on a turn near Balai Rakyat (GOR Pasar Minggu),” Sharif said on Friday.

Sharif, who was behind the two vehicles, said that while fighting in front of the school, the Imam got out of the car. However, Handana remained in her vehicle.

The victim then left both cars and turned around in front of the Fiscal Complex.

“I thought it was because of the security forces, so I had to leave. I thought they could handle me and finish. I was also delivering food,” he said.

Not far from the U-turn, Sharif said, he suddenly saw a car heading off the track in the opposite direction.

“I’m flying in a split second …”

The victim did not have time to escape and was run over by an oncoming vehicle.

“It was a police car, I saw it fly for a split second. After being hit, my eyes went dark, ”said Sharif.

Apart from hitting Sharif, Imam also hit two other motorcyclists, namely Pinkan Lumintang (30) and Dian Prasetyo (25).

Dian suffered serious injuries to her leg and right hand. Meanwhile, Pinkan died at the scene with a head injury and a broken right leg.

The victims were immediately taken to Fatmawati Hospital for treatment.

Suspect sentenced to 12 years in prison

Later, the police named Handana as a suspect in the accident that killed a motorcyclist.

“Investigators from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Bureau have named Brother H, a black Hyundai driver, as a suspect in this accident,” Sambodo said Saturday.

Sambodo explained that Handana’s naming as a suspect was supported by evidence ranging from witness testimony to CCTV video footage at the scene.

Other evidence collected was damage to the car driven by Imam and Handana.

In fact, on the part of the car that Imam was driving, there were paint marks from Handana’s car that stuck due to collisions.

“Traces were found extending from the side of the right front door near the wheels towards the rear. There is also a kind of notch near the right front door. There is paint on the silver Innova vehicle,” he added.

Handana has now been detained at the Gakkum Traffic Sub-Directorate in Polda Metro Jaya.

He was charged under Article 311, paragraph 5 of the Road Traffic and Transport Act, with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison and a maximum fine of Rs 24 million.
