Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The latest news comes from Turkey. The country will receive its first shipment of the Sinovac Biontech (Covid-19) coronavirus vaccine, Coronavac, starting Sunday (12/27/2020).
This is because initial trials through national trials showed the vaccine to be 91% effective. This was broadcast directly by the Turkish Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, on Thursday (12/24/2020) local time.
Reporting from AFP, a preliminary test was carried out on 7,371 volunteers. Although phase three has not finished, the Chinese vaccine is 91.25% effective.
Turkey will receive three million doses of Sinovac out of a total of 50 million more doses. “Turkey will be able to vaccinate 1.5 million or even two million people per day,” Koca said, noting that phase one of the vaccination would target nine million people.
In addition to Sinovac, Ankara will also purchase vaccines from Pfizer / BioNTech, totaling 4.5 million doses. A target of 30 million vaccines is likely to be purchased from US and German companies.
Turkey noted that 2.2 million people were infected with the crown. The number of deaths of citizens per crown was recorded in 19,115 cases.
Previously, RI and Brazil also purchased the Sinovac vaccine. In Brazil, it is said that this vaccine shows an effectiveness greater than 50%. But unfortunately the full report that should have been published on Wednesday (12/23/2020) has not been carried out.
