Chinese convicts flee and hide in the forest, they have bought food in a nearby town

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Police received little information about drug convict Cai Changpan aka Cai Ji Fan who escaped from Tangerang (Lapas) Class 1 Correctional Institution to the Tenjo area, Bogor, West Java.

Polda Metro’s Head of Public Relations Jaya Kombes Pol Yusri Yunus said Cai Changpan had left the forest and stopped in a nearby village to buy food.

“He actually had time to go out to one of the nearby towns to buy food. Now he went back inside,” Yusri told reporters on Saturday (3/10/2020).

Polda Metro Jaya has deployed Brimob troops to assist in the search for Cai Changpan, who is now on the wanted list (DPO).

Apart from the Tenjo, Bogor area, the search is also expanding to other areas. One of them is in Babakan Village, Pasir Madang and Pasar Rebo.

“We are expanding our search for traces to Babakan Village, then to Pasir Madang and also to the Pasar Rebo area. We are expanding our search there to pursue interested parties,” he said.

Cai Changpan is known to have escaped from Tangerang Class 1 Prison by digging a hole 30 meters long and 2.5 meters in diameter. The excavation was carried out for 8 months, until it penetrated the area outside the prison.
