Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
China to show off corona vaccine homemade for the first time. The vaccines, which are produced by Sinovac Biotech and Sinopharm, are displayed in small vials at an exhibition in Beijing.
Producers hope that the vaccine will be approved by the government and then commercialized after the phase 3 trial.
As quoted from AFP, Monday (7/9), representatives of Sinovac said that the company has completed the construction of a vaccine factory capable of producing 300 million doses a year.
Meanwhile, Sinopharm said it hopes that the antibodies produced by the vaccine can last between one and three years, although the final results will only be known after trials.
China has repeatedly faced a storm of criticism from many countries for the early handling of the pandemic. Now they are trying to reverse all the accusations.
Chinese media and state officials are echoing the narrative of the rise of Wuhan, the city where the coronavirus was first discovered.
They also reportedly want to show the world the history of the fight against Covid-19. This can be seen in how China often talks about the development of its vaccine trials.
In May, for example, Chinese President Xi Jinping promised to make a potential Chinese-developed vaccine a global public good.
According to Xi, the vaccine could later be used by countries to get rid of the crown at a price that was not set as expensive.
Chinese lokal tabloid, Global times revealed that every two doses of the vaccine should cost less than 1,000 yuan or about 2.1 million rupees.
On the other hand, the news agency Xinhua revealed that there is another candidate vaccine developed by Chinese military scientists and that it could overcome the corona virus mutation.
The Shinovac vaccine currently in development around the world has been ordered by several countries.
Previously, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that there would be no corona vaccine until mid-2021. However, the UN health agency welcomed the development of phase III clinical trials carried out by various groups.
Under normal procedures, the testing phase of a vaccine can take months or years to verify until a candidate vaccine is declared safe and effective.
