Suara.com – The number of COVID-19 coronavirus infections in children in the UK is reported to have increased. The Queen Elizabeth State Health Department immediately alerted and moved quickly to deal with the phenomenon.
Children are known to be one of the ‘safest’ populations from the Covid-19 pandemic. The virus called the scientific SARS-CoV-2 infects more elderly people and people with complications of the disease.
However, the increasing number of children who have become ill in the UK has made the UK National Health Service (NSH) concerned that this is related to the Corona virus which is endemic.
Professor Stephen Powis, medical director of the NHS UK, on Monday (04/27/2020) evening, has asked experts to investigate the new phenomenon.
“We have known in recent days that reports of serious illness have occurred in children,” Stephen Powis of the NZ Herald said Tuesday (04/28/2020).
“That may be Kawasaki disease, an inflammatory disease that can cause long-term complications in the heart,” he added.
Although it is not certain whether the increase in the number of pediatric patients in hospitals is directly related to Covid-19 infection, experts still think in that direction.
“This is a very rare situation, but I think it is entirely reasonable that it is caused by the (Corona) virus,” said Professor Chris Whitty, medical director.
This phenomenon causes the British Minister of Health, Matt Hancock, to worry about the growing number of pediatric patients entering intensive care.
“We are aware of this. I have asked the National Clinical Director for Children and Youth to see this as an urgent matter,” said Stephen Powis.
