Jakarta –
Chelsea has spent a lot of money polishing the attack line this season. But funnily enough, it’s the defenders who are sharper after four weeks.
Chelsea completed week four of the Premier League match against Crystal Palace with a 4-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (03/10/2020). Jorginho scored twice from the penalty spot, while the other two were from Ben Chilwell and Kurt Zouma.
The images of the match can be seen on Mola TV through this link.
This match is a kind of statement that so far the first line The Blues not yet contributing optimally in the Premier League. In fact, if you calculate from last week, Chelsea’s defenders have contributed more goals than their attackers.
Zouma has scored two goals, while Reece James (right back) and Ben Chilwell have scored one each. That is to say, there are four goals produced by the Chelsea defense.
By comparison, Chelsea’s front row has only scored three goals, with Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi each contributing one goal. Chelsea’s top scorer? So far Jorginho (midfielder) leads the list with three goals, all from the penalty spot.
This indicates that there is still work for Frank Lampard as manager. Additionally, Chelsea has spent a lot of money to strengthen the front lines, including hiring Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Hakim Ziyech.
Except for Ziyech, Werner and Havertz have already debuted. Both have always been involved in Chelsea’s first four games so far, but neither have scored a goal.
The Premier League will now be ‘off’ for two weeks for the international break. After that, Chelsea will face Southampton in the Premier League.
It will be interesting to see if Chelsea’s front row goals start to flow more profusely.
