BANGKOK, KOMPAS.com – Protesters in Thailand are challenging the monarchy of Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn by posting posters in a square next to the Royal Palace in Bangkok.
The plaque placed on Sunday (9/20/2020) states that Thailand belongs to the people, not the King of Thailand.
The protests that have grown since July have broken the old taboo that criticizing the monarchy is a ban Reuters.
The protesters also demanded the resignation of Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, demanded a new constitution and demanded new elections.

The plate was cemented in an area known as Sanam Luang, also known as Royal Square, shortly after dawn.
“In this place people have expressed their wish: that this country belongs to the people and not to the king because they have deceived us,” the plaque reads.
The Royal Palace could not be reached for comment.
Thai government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said that the police will not use force against protesters and that it is up to them to determine and prosecute any illegal speech.

Police were not immediately available for comment.
During the protests that took place on Sunday, tens of thousands of protesters applauded the reform of the monarchy and the removal of Prayuth as Prime Minister of Thailand.
“This nation does not belong to one person more than all of us. Down with feudalism, long live the people,” shouted one of the leaders of the demonstration, Parit Chiwarak, during a poster installation ceremony.

The police refrained from demonstrating and did not attempt to interfere.
The protesters said they would walk from the ceremony site at 0800 local time.
