The Mayor of Central Jakarta, Bayu Meghantara, was removed from office. The provincial government of DKI Jakarta has confirmed that Bayu was removed from office because he was deemed negligent in regard to the Habib Rizieq crowd in Petamburan some time ago.

Bayu Meghantara was removed from office on November 24, 2020. After being removed, he was immediately transferred as a member of the Governor’s Accelerated Development Team (TGUPP) until further assignments were made.
Previously, Bayu Meghantara was temporarily suspended from his post. The move took place after a crowd from Habib Rizieq Syihab in Petamburan, Tanah Abang, central Jakarta.
The dismissal is based on Work Order number 855 / -082.74 from the DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary. The letter is dated November 25, 2020 and is signed by DKI Jakarta Sri Haryati Acting Regional Secretary.
The letter contained the appointment of the Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta, Irwandi, as Acting Mayor (Plh) of Central Jakarta.
