Candidate for regent of Barru Malkan Amin, passed away on Pilkada day

MAKASSAR, KOMPAS.TV – Barru’s regent candidate, candidate number 3, Malkan Amin, died at Wahidin Sudirohusodo Central General Hospital (RSPI), Makassar, South Sulawesi.

Malkan died at the age of 72, right on the day of the 2020 simultaneous regional elections, Wednesday (12/9).

According to a statement from the director of the Wahidin Sudirohusodo General Hospital, Khalik Saleh, Malkan was confirmed to be infected with Covid-19.

He is a referral patient at Bhayangkara Hospital, Makassar.

“Patient Malkan Amin was confirmed positive for Covid-19 and was referred from Bhayangkara Hospital since last night around 00.10 WITA. The patient died this morning around 10.30 WITA,” Khalik said when contacted by Kompas.com.

Currently, there are three pairs of candidates competing in the Pilkada 2020 in Barru Regency, South Sulawesi.

The number 1 candidate pair is Mudassir Hasri Gani and Aksah Kasim, led by PKB and PPP.

Then couple number 2, Suardi Saleh and Aska Mappe, were supported by the NasDem Party, PDI-P, PKS and the Democratic Party.

Finally, the couple number 3, Malkan Amin and Andi Salahuddin Rum, supported by the Golkar Party and the Gerindra Party.
