Bruno Fernandes became Manchester United’s hero when he eliminated Liverpool. His goal showed that Fernandes was not so bad when he faced a great team.

MU host Liverpool in the FA Cup fourth round at Old Trafford on Monday (1/25/2021) early in the morning. Behind first by Mohamed Salah’s goal in the 18th minute, MU went ahead with goals from Mason Greenwood in the 26th minute and Marcus Rashford in the 49th minute.

Salah scored his second goal in the 58th minute before Fernandes, who appeared as a substitute, scored the winning goal in the 78th minute. Alisson Becker couldn’t avoid his free kick from close range.

For Fernandes, this goal seemed to demonstrate once again how important it was to MU. Since his debut for Manchester United in February 2020, Fernandes has scored more goals than any other player in the Premier League – that’s 28 goals.

However, there is something more important than this goal that also confirms that Fernandes does not only shine against small teams. Fernandes wasn’t supposed to play big teams.

In the eight-game Premier League, Fernandes scored just two goals and two assists against the big teams averaging a goal / assist for 164 minutes. Well, for this season, Fernandes’ stats are starting to improve.

In fact, the stats are not just against traditional Big Six teams, but also against great teams outside of England. Fernandes has stormed the goals of Tottenham Hotspur, RB Leipzig, Paris Saint-Germain, Leicester City and finally Liverpool.

Even in all of the season’s competitions, Fernandes at least scored goals and assists, against teams that finished in the top six in the Premier League last season, namely Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Leicester and Tottenham.

Not bad, right, for Bruno Fernandes, who before this was often said to have disappeared in the big Manchester United games?
