Timo Werner’s knees had to be compressed after a collision with Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Mat Ryan. Then it can appear against Liverpool.

Chelsea opened their 2020/2021 Premier League campaign with a very sweet one. Frank Lampard’s team silenced Brighton 3-1 at Amex Stadium in the first week, Tuesday (9/15/2020) WIB early morning.

Chelsea’s first goal was scored by a penalty from Jorginho in the 23rd minute. This penalty came after Ryan hit Werner.

Brighton had balanced it to 1-1 through Leandro Trossard in the 54th minute. Chelsea responded immediately and took the lead in the 56th minute through a goal from Reece James. Ten minutes later, Kurt Zouma increased the score to 3-1 to ensure Chelsea came home with a win.

After the game, Werner’s knee was wrapped in ice. He even had to compress his knees during a post-match interview.

There is concern that Werner will be absent when he host Liverpool in the second week on Sunday (9/20/2020) WIB evening. However, Werner appears to be in good shape again in the Stamford Bridge match.

“Yes, this was a penalty. The goalkeeper’s knee hit me directly in the muscle and it hurt a lot. For the rest of the game it was very painful and I could not do some movements because the muscles became very hard, but in the end, I glad I won. “he told Sky Sports.

“I don’t care about this. Today we played a good game, we did well. I’m happy to have received the penalty because I think it is very important for our game,” he said.

The game against Brighton marked Werner’s debut in the Premier League. Chelsea recruited him from RB Leipzig this summer.
