Breaks the positive record for Covid-19, more in DKI, followed by West Java

Additional cases of positive confirmation corona virus (Covid-19) in Indonesia as of Wednesday (9/23) broke records again. Today, the incorporation of new cases reached 4,465 cases. This number surpassed the previous record of 4,275 cases on September 21.

During the past week, additional positive cases stood at 3,800-4,000 cases per day. The first 4,000 cases occurred on September 19, to be exact, 4,168. The sum of cases dropped to 3,989 cases the following day, but increased again on September 21 to 4,176 cases and fell to 4,071 cases on September 22.

The accumulation of positive cases of Covid-19 today is 257,388 cases, of which the number of recoveries is 187,958 and the death cases are 9,977 cases.


The Covid-19 Management Working Group noted that there were five provinces with the most cases, namely DKI Jakarta (1,133 cases), West Java (516 cases), East Java (338 cases), Central Java (257 cases) and Banten (216 cases). .

Then there were 204 positive cases in West Sumatra province.

Other provinces with additional case registries greater than 100 are East Kalimantan (196 cases), Riau (188 cases), Bali (130 cases), Papua (138 cases), South Sulawesi (124 cases), Riau Islands (117 cases) and Sumatra. South (110 cases). Meanwhile, other provinces recorded additional daily cases of less than 100.

The provinces with the fewest additional cases were Maluku with two cases, North Sulawesi and West Kalimantan with six cases each, and nine new cases in Jambi.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ordered the coordinating minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments, Luhut B Panjaitan, to reduce the rate of Covid-19 cases and the death rate in nine provinces.

The nine provinces include Jakarta, East Java, Central Java, West Java, South Sulawesi, North Sumatra, South Kalimantan, Bali, and Papua. However, after almost a week, the cases in nine provinces have not decreased. Starting on Tuesday (9/22) it will be early in the week to see the fulfillment of Luhut and Doni’s objectives entrusted by Jokowi.

On the other hand, the Indonesian Government continues today the implementation stages of Pilkada 2020 simultaneously with a plenary meeting to determine the electoral participants in all regional KPUs that are holding elections. The plan is that tomorrow Thursday (9/24), each KPU will draw serial numbers for the candidate pairs.

The implementation of Pilkada 2020 itself was opposed by various parties, both researchers and community organizations for fear of creating a new Covid-19 cluster during the campaign period.
