BPOM approves Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine, 65.23% efficacy

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) has finally issued a permit for the emergency use of the Covid-19 vaccine. China Sinovac vaccine under the name CoronaVac officially obtains USA or Emergency Use Authorization.

U.S o Emergency use authorization is a permit issued for the use of certain medical methods or products, in this case the Covid-19 vaccine.

The permission for the emergency use of the Sinovac vaccine was given directly by BPOM Chief Penny Kusumastuti Lukito at a virtual press conference, on Monday (1/11/2021).

“The Covid-19 CoronaVac vaccine is safe. The side effects are mild and moderate,” Penny said.

Regarding efficacy, Penny said that the Sinovac CoronaVac vaccine, the immunogeneity data worked well. “The efficacy of the vaccine is 65.23% in Indonesia,” Penny said.

Penny emphasized that BPOM has given US approval for CoronaVac Sinovac. “Today, Monday, January 11, 2020, the emergency use authorization for Sinovac was approved,” Penny said.
