Sam Allardyce continued his excellent record at Anfield after West Bromwich Albion dominated Liverpool. He has never lost in the last four trips to Anfield.

Liverpool was played at Anfield 1-1 by West Bromwich Albion (WBA) in Week 5 of the Premier League, on Sunday (12/27/2020). The Reds went ahead through Sadio Mane in the 12th minute. Liverpool’s superiority then had to disappear due to a goal from Sami Ajayi in the 82nd minute.

The WBA’s success in drawing Liverpool to a draw cannot be separated from the cold hand of Sam Allardyce. Allardyce’s tactics proved effective in reducing the Reds’ attack. Liverpool only made two shoot the target of the 17 shots were made.

The WBA also seems effective at taking notes shoot the target more than Liverpool which is three times, despite only making five attempts. Allardyce praised his team’s hard work in reducing Liverpool.

“This is an extraordinary day. There has to be a lot of defense against a quality team with a fantastic home record,” Allardyce was quoted as saying by the BBC.

“We frustrated Liverpool as much as we could. We had to suppress them in the first half. We changed in the last 20 minutes giving Karlan Grant a lot of balls.”

“We got goals from Semi Ajayi and Karlan Grant one-on-one, so two good chances to score. We came out with valuable points.”

Allardyce was again able to show that he could surpass Anfield appearances. Quoted from Opta, this draw caused Allardyce to never taste defeat in his last four passes at Anfield in the Premier League event.

He achieved one victory and three draws with four different teams. In addition to the WBA, the teams that Allardyce caused problems for Liverpool at Anfield were Everton (drew 1-1), Crystal Palace (won 2-1) and Sunderland (drew 2-2).

However, an additional point Allardyce presented for the WBA has failed to lift them off the brink of relegation. They remain in 19th position with eight points. Meanwhile, Liverpool remain firmly at the top of the standings with 32 points.
