Madrid –
Karim Benzema’s performance in early 2021 stood out, because he was slow in front of the rival goal. Is the Real Madrid striker tired?
Benzema was played by Madrid against Celta de Vigo at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium, on Sunday (1/3/2021) at the morning WIB, in the 17th week of the Spanish League. The 33-year-old forward failed to score a goal when Los Blancos won 2-0 — through goals from Lucas Vázquez and Marco Asensio.
As for Benzema, his performance stood out because he was considered slow. He couldn’t create target shooting against Vigo, and twice a golden opportunity was lost. Benzema himself had just been withdrawn in second-half injury time by coach Zinedine Zidane.
Benzema himself considers himself exhausted, having played 15 times this season. He only lost to Thibaut Courtois and Raphael Varane, who have played 17 times.
They also asked Zidane if Benzema was starting to get tired. However, the coach stressed that the player who has scored 8 goals in the league is still strong and continues to play quite well.
“I don’t think he’s tired. I thought he played well, and I threw it away so other players could play,” said Zidane, reported by Marca.
“We are in a good trend. We have done the right thing and we have to continue like this,” he said.
Their own victory over Celta de Vigo took Madrid to the top of the Spanish League standings. The Galacticos have now accumulated 36 points in 17 games, one point ahead of Atlético de Madrid, but Luis Suárez and others have only played 14 times.
