Karim Benzema shows off again. On this occasion, Benzema scored two goals and an assist that saw Real Madrid beat Celta de Vigo 3-1.

In the 28th week of the LaLiga match played in Balaidos, Saturday (3/20/2021), Madrid won 2-1 in the first half thanks to a pair of goals from Benzema to which Santi Mina responded.

Madrid could only get the third goal in the 94th minute through Marco Asensio. Three additional points move Madrid up to second place in the standings with 60 points, three points from Atlético de Madrid at the top who have played 28 times and one point from Barcelona in third place.

Celta is eleventh with 34 points.

Real Madrid made several changes, including the replacement of Nacho at the rear to replace the absent Sergio Ramos. Karim Benzema with Federico Valverde and Vinicius Junior at the helm.

Despite dominating ball possession, Madrid continued to strive to create golden opportunities. It was in the ninth minute that Benzema went free at the far post and shot straight for the ball, but Hugo Mallo was cleared.

Madrid could only create another opportunity in the 20th minute and immediately led to a goal. Toni Kroos held the ball in the final third of Celta’s game and then made a pass to Benzema.

Benzema, who had his back to the goal, turned quickly and finished off at the far post of Ivan Villar’s goal.

Celta responded three minutes later with a quick attack that ended in a cross into the penalty area. There is Santi Mina who tries to bleed the ball but goes astray.

In the 26th minute, Vinicius gets in good position to head a Benzema cross that stabs down the right. However, Vinicius could not maintain the accuracy of his header and the ball floated.

Madrid received a “gift” from Celta in the 30th minute when Renato Tapia had too much time to get the ball in front of his own penalty area. Kroos grabbed the ball and headed for Benzema’s shooting line, which simply sent it into the corner of Madrid’s goal 2-0 up.

Celta cut the score in the 40th minute through Santi Mina. Starting with a Denis Suárez free kick, the ball went straight to the penalty area and Santi Mina dribbled it, without Thibaut Courtois being able to get it.

After winning 2-1 in the first half, Madrid tried to put pressure directly in the second half. However, Celta did know how to respond to Madrid’s resistance in order to find a tie.

Celta made a dangerous attack in the 61st minute from the right, maximizing a 1-2 pass between Brais Méndez and Aspas. The surname fired the ball into the left corner of the goal, but Courtois was able to ignore it.

Madrid also tried to score goals but their efforts always failed. Even in the 78th minute when Benzema put the ball into the penalty area and broke away from the rivals, before shooting on goal but Villar was able to ignore it.

Celta hit a free kick just in front of Madrid’s 16-meter area in the 81st minute. Aspas took a free kick, the ball hitting Casemiro’s head and hitting the post.

Madrid secured a 3-1 injury-time victory when Benzema counterattacked down the left. Approaching the penalty area, he launched a cross that was easily put into the net with his thigh by Marco Asensio.
