Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Indonesia Student Executive Board Alliance Center Coordinator (GOOD YES), Remy Hastian estimates there will be 5,000 college student that went down the road to follow the action of pushing all the law Job Creation Law, Tuesday (10/20).
Remy said that during the action, the students would express their pressure for President Joko Widodo to repeal the Job Creation Act. The protesters will also call for a vote of no confidence against the government and the House of Representatives (DPR).
Because both, Remy continued, are not considered in the public interest.
“The action will take place on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. WIB with an estimated mass of 5,000 students from all over Indonesia,” Remy said in a written statement on Monday (10/19).
Remy added that the action was taken again because the government was considered to have ignored the aspirations of the people. Instead of meeting the demands of the masses to cancel the Job Creation Law, the government has deflected it by asking the public to submit a judicial review to the Constitutional Court.
“We really regret the government’s decision that really challenged the public to conduct a judicial review of the Employment Creation Law. In fact, they could take steps to repeal the law,” Remy said again.
According to him, the judicial review would not be effective, especially since Jokowi had asked the commissioners of the Constitutional Court to support the Employment Creation Law. For this reason, Remy is also pessimistic that the lawsuit against the Constitutional Court will be granted and go according to expectations.

In addition, he criticized the repressive attitude and actions of the police in controlling the recent series of actions. Including the wiretapping of various activists and academics who criticized the rejection of the law.
Previously, the president of the Confederation of the Indonesian Trade Union Alliance (KASBI), Nining Elitos, said that he would again hold a demonstration with students. This action was carried out within a year of the inauguration of Jokowi and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.
His party will return to the State Palace demanding the issuance of a Regulation instead of the law (Perppu). The protesters, he said, would hold a long march from the University of Indonesia (UI), Salemba.
The simultaneous national action of workers and students has been taking place since October 8. The demonstration against the Omnibus Law on the Employment Creation Law led to riots at several points. In Jakarta, Polda Metro Jaya has named 131 suspects related to the series of riots during the action.
