Jakarta –
Lionel Messi had an argument with Gimnastic midfielder Javier Ribelles in a Barcelona test match. La Pulga is annoyed that he is always hacked.
Barcelona face Gimnastic at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, on Sunday morning (9/13/2020) WIB. This will be Ronald Koeman’s debut match since he was appointed Barça coach and Messi’s first game after he reportedly wanted to leave the Camp Nou.
Messi played from the first minute of the game that Barcelona won 3-1. Blaugrana’s goals against Gimnastic were scored by Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Grizmann and Philippe Coutinho. Barça’s last two goals came from the penalty spot. Gimnastic narrowed back in the 31st minute through Javi Bonilla.
In the middle of this match there was a discussion between Messi and Ribelles. The Argentine star was upset because he was repeatedly hit by opponents. Messi then cursed Ribelles.
“What are you doing, idiot? Can you stop kicking me all the time?” Ribelles told Chiringuito Messi’s words, which were also quoted by Marca and RT News.
Ribelles also gave an explanation to Messi. The 28-year-old midfielder called Messi the best player and there was no other way to stop him than by lashing out.
“You are the best, I have to charge, I cannot let him turn around because you will beat me,” continued Ribelles.
“It is clear that Messi cannot change, because if he does and dealing with you is very complicated. I will hit him from the back, I will do everything, with my feet, hands or chest,” confirmed Ribelles.
Barcelona will have two more preparation games before starting to fight in LaLiga against Villarreal. The next rivals are Girona in the test matches and Elche in the Joan Gamper Trophy.
