Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Student Youth and Student Partnership for Community Protection (PPMK) reported on investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Baswedan novel to Bareskrim Polri regarding his statement on the death of Soni Eranata aka Maaher At-Thuwailibi.
PPMK DPP Vice President Joko Priyoski accused Novel of spreading false news or hoaxes related to Maaher’s death. According to him, Novel also has no authority to comment on other law enforcement agencies.
“We, of the PPMK DPP, denounced Novel Baswedan because he had tweeted and we suspected that he had made jokes and provocations,” said Joko, in the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police, on Thursday (2/11).
Joko reported the Novel with the assumption that article 14, article 15 of Law No. 1 of 1946 on Regulation of Criminal Law and article 45 A subsection (2) and Article 28 paragraph (2) of Law Number 18 of 2016 on ITE.
Furthermore, Joko urged the KPK Supervisory Board to sanction Novel regarding his statements on social media about Maaher.
Previously, PPMK also informed former Komnas HAM commissioner Natalius Pigai regarding SARA-related racial comments related to the Minang tribe in his tweet.
The head of the Public Information Office of the National Police (Karopenmas), Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, said his party would accept any reports made by the public. According to him, the main task of the National Police is as a public servant.
“All public reports, of course, will be accepted by the Police. Including reports against Novel Baswedan,” said Rusdi, at Police Headquarters, Jakarta, on Thursday (2/11).
Rusdi said the report files would be studied by investigators from the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim). Additionally, the investigator will determine whether or not a criminal act was found in that incident.
Previously, Novel questioned the reason why the National Police detained Maaher who was ill. According to him, the police in that incident had gone too far.
“Innalillahi Wainnailaihi Rojiun. Ustadz Maaher died in the police detention center. Although the case was humiliation, arrested, then sick. Sick people, why are they forcing you to be arrested? The authorities are not going too far … Especially with Ustadz. This is not trivial you know“Novel tweeted via his Twitter account @nazaqistsha, on Tuesday (September 2).
Inspector General Argo Yuwono, Chief of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, stated that Maaher was in good health when he first entered the detention center. Maaher only complained of illness after serving detention. He has also received medical treatment at the Police Hospital.
However, Argo stated that he could not reveal the history of Maaher’s illness. According to him, Maaher’s illness was sensitive.
