jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Indriyanto Seno Adji, criminal law expert from the University of Indonesia, commented on the determination of the suspects and the arrest of supporters of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) Ambroncius Nababan by Bareskrim Polri.

Ambroncius is the head of volunteer Pro Jokowi Amin (Projamin) who was arrested by Bareskrim in connection with a case of racial hate speech against former Komnas HAM member Natalius Pigai.

Indriyanto emphasized that the arrest of Ambroncius, who is a supporter of Jokowi in the 2019 presidential elections, is proof that the law is not discriminatory.

“The state does not tolerate racial issues nor does it contain SARA (ethnicity, religion, race and intergroup),” Indriyanto said in Jakarta on Thursday (1/28).

The former acting head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) also thanks the police for the alleged racism against Natalius Pigai.

According to Indriyanto, Ambroncius’ arrest and detention indicated that the application of the law was applied equally, was not discriminatory and did not take into account his political background.

On the other hand, he said, the legal process against Ambroncius could also reduce public tension.

“This legal process can also be used to reduce public tension. However, if the parties are wise with a restorative justice approach, the legal process should not have to take precedence over the legal process,” he said.
