Barcelona –
Carlos Tusquets, Barcelona’s interim president, believes that Lionel Messi should have been sold on the transfer market last summer. Which is the reason?
Messi had almost moved from Barcelona last summer. The Argentine star expelled from the Camp Nou.
Messi wants to leave using his special clause. The owner of the 6 Ballon d’Or received an agreement to leave the club for free, in his contract period that runs until 2021.
However, Barcelona denied it. The president at the time, Josep Maria Bartomeu, apparently kept Messi with a buyout clause worth 700 million euros, or around 12 trillion rupees.
Realizing that no one could make it up to him, Messi finally decided to stay. The 33-year-old striker remains at Camp Nou, at least until his contract expires next year.
Now, Bartomeu has resigned and was temporarily replaced by Tusquets. According to the interim Blaugrana president, Messi should have been sold on the transfer market last summer.
“Financially, I will sell Messi in the summer transfer market,” Tusquets said. RAC1, which was reported by Sky Sports.
“Whether it’s in terms of saving money on salaries or making money from sales, that’s a good thing. But, it’s also something that the coaching team has to agree on, and I don’t have any dominance there.”
“LaLiga is now setting salary limits. That will be very helpful in the future,” he explained.
Messi himself is now starting to be rumored with various clubs. Apart from Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain is on the list after his former colleague Neymar admitted he wanted to play for La Pulga again.
