Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) provided an explanation on Bambang Trihatmodjo’s lawsuit against the Indonesian Minister of Finance at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) in connection with his ban.

The son of the second President of the Republic of Indonesia, the late Soeharto and one of the founders of PT Global Mediacom Tbk (BMTR) or formerly known as PT Bimantara Citra, was kicked out overseas due to the 1997 SEA Games.

The 1997 SEA Games were held in Jakarta from October 11 to October 19, 1997, 23 years ago when Bambang Tri was 44 years old. At the time, Bambang was the head of the XIX SEA Games consortium.

The Director General of State Assets at the Finance Ministry, Isa Rachmatarwata, said the reason for preventing Bambang from coming from abroad (LN) is because he had not fulfilled his obligations.

Prevention is carried out after several processes in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.

Therefore, he asked Bambang not to be careless and to be able to discuss it well.

“There are many ways to meet obligations. Some pay in full at once. Some ask for deadlines, etc., which can be discussed with the committee,” Isa said at a virtual press conference on Friday (9/18). / 2020).

Former Head of the Insurance Office Bapepam-LK is saying, Before implementing the ban, the government has taken several steps.

First, if someone has an account receivable and it cannot be settled or paid, it will be sent to the KL (ministry / institution), then from KL it will be sent to the state committee on accounts receivable.

Therefore, he made sure that if the ban did indeed occur, it would not be easy, but there was a process that had been approved.

“In the performance of its functions, the committee should have called to warn those responsible for settling accounts receivable. If they do not pay attention, the law will give the committee authority to take further action,” he explained.

“For example, prevent the interested party from being abroad. Continue blocking the account in question. This can be done by asking the competent authorities,” he added.

The Secretary of the State Ministry (Kemensetneg) also provided an explanation. Kemensetneg explained that this ban was related to the case that shackled Bambang Trihatmodjo, that is to say, in the past state receivables of the Partner Organizing Consortium (KMP) of the 1997 Sea Games.

KKemensesneg secretary Setya Utama explained that in order for the implementation of the XIX Sea Games in 1997 to be a success, a private consortium was involved and appointed a private consortium chaired by Bambang Trihatmodjo, as organizing partner of the XIX Sea Games of 1997.

“The consortium has the task of providing funds for the organization of the XIX Marine Games in 1997. In its implementation, the Consortium experienced a shortage of funds and the state granted loans that eventually became debt of the consortium with the state (accounts for collect from the state), “Setya said in an official statement on Saturday (9/19/2020).

In his complaint, Bambang asked PTUN to declare null and void Decree of the Minister of Finance Number 108 / KM.6 / 2020 dated May 27, 2020 regarding the Stipulation of the Extension of the Prevention of Travel Outside the Territory from the Republic of Indonesia to Bambang Trihatmodjo (President of the Consortium of Organizing Partners of Sea Games XIX 1997) in the Framework of Management of State Accounts Receivable.

In addition, Bambang in the lawsuit asked PTUN to demand that the defendant revoke the Decree of the Minister of Finance No. 108 / KM.6 / 2020 of May 27, 2020.
