SIMALUNGUN, KOMPAS.com – The consecutive collision was allegedly due to the failure of the brakes of the container trucks that resulted in 5 deaths and 5 other serious injuries.

The fatal accident happened at Jalan Asahan KM 3.5, Nagori Dolok Marlawan, Siantar District, Simalungun Regency, on Thursday (10/19/2020) morning around 09.30 WIB.

The streak involved cars to motorcycles from a container with police number BM 8238 ZU.

The truck is believed to have failed brakes and spun out of control, hitting motorcycles and cars.

7 cars and 5 motorcycles were damaged

Simalungun Police Chief Ipda Ramadhan Siregar said the accident caused serious damage to at least 7 cars and 5 motorcycles.

“It is suspected that the cause of the accident was that the brakes allegedly failed and they took the right lane and collided with cars and motorcycles,” Siregar said when he was at the scene.

For now, Siregar said, the temporary data collected by the Police is 5 people, of which 3 are children and 2 adults.

While the victims who were seriously injured were 5 people.

The trucker flees

The victim was transferred to the Forensic Room of the Djasamen Saragih Regional Hospital, while the injured victim was rushed to the Vita Insani Hospital, Pematangsiantar city.
