Jakarta –
The existence of a shopping center in Kemang, South Jakarta, was highlighted by former Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) due to its construction that removed the swamps. The mall construction project was launched in July 2007, which was still in the era of DKI Governor Sutiyoso. So what did Sutiyoso say?
The governor of DKI in the 1997-2007 era emphasized that he did not remember. According to him, it could have been different then and now.
“Sorry, I don’t remember anymore,” Sutiyoso said when asked for his response to JK’s statement on Friday (2/26/2021).
“23 years ago I was governor. Of course it is different than the current conditions. I don’t remember when the mall was founded,” he continued.
Referring to PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk’s 2019 prospectus (a combination of the company profile and the annual report), the Lippo Kemang shopping center, which was part of the Kemang Village development project, was launched in July 2007. This development consists of a shopping center with a gross area (disgusting area) 150,392 square meters.
Construction of the mall was completed in 2012. Lippo Mall Kemang was officially opened on September 26, 2012. The mall was directly opened by Lippo Mall Group CEO Michael Riady.
Seen from the moment the project was launched in July 2007, DKI Jakarta was led by Governor Sutiyoso. Sutiyoso’s post only ended on October 7, 2007. However, this does not mean that the permit was issued at the same time.
Earlier, JK’s statement on the responsibility of the governor who issued the building permit for the Lippo Kemang shopping center was made in the hard-hitting program that aired on the detikcom, Friday (2/26).
JK understands the issue of tax revenue for the DKI Jakarta provincial government with the construction of shopping centers. But people ended up paying more for the flooding they suffered.
“Who is the governor who gave the permission for the swamps to become commercial areas? He must also be responsible,” said JK.
But in general, according to Vice Presidents 10 and 12 of the Republic of Indonesia, the problem of flooding in the national capital is a classic problem. Management must involve all parties, from the central government, DKI Pemprov, the buffer areas, to the surrounding community.
In Bogor and Depok, for example, there needs to be a deposit. In addition, the Provincial Government of DKI should continue to add green areas as catchment areas.
Regarding the normalization of Ciliwung and other rivers, JK emphasized the importance of the assertiveness of the central and regional governments. There must also be a strong and consistent commitment. He gave an example of the construction of the East Flood Canal (KBT) that can be completed in two years. Similarly, the construction of the Sedyatmo toll road leading to the Soekarno-Hatta airport was completed in 8 months after the 2008 flood.
“I ordered the BKT to be built and it will be finished in two years. The cost exchange of the central government of Rp. 2 billion and from the provincial government of DKI Jakarta Rp. 1 trillion, “said JK, who is also president of PMI Central.
