Asep’s Story, Policemen Missing from the 2004 Aceh Tsunami Found in RSJ

BANDA ACEH, KOMPAS.TV- A man named Asep went viral. He is a police officer who reportedly disappeared when the tsunami hit Aceh in 2004.

Having received the title Abrip posthumously, it turns out that Asep is known to be still alive, but is currently experiencing mental disorders.

It’s a video showing a man suspected of being a policeman who was declared missing after the 2004 Aceh tsunami went viral on social media.

Uploaded by the Instagram account @ini_polisi, the man was discovered by Bharaka Asep of the 99/00 Pioneers Regiment II. Asep is a Security Assistance Task Force (BKO) Brimob Regiment II Kedung Halang Bogor to Polda Aceh.

At the time, he was on duty at the Brimob Peukan Bada post, Aceh Besar district.

When the tsunami disaster struck Aceh in 2004, Asep was fulfilling his duties at the security post. Now Asep is as a patient at the Zainal Abidin Mental Hospital (RSJ).
