The President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, abruptly ended a press conference on the development of efforts to combat the Corona virus (COVID-19) after starting a fight with an Asian-American journalist.
As reported AFPOn Tuesday (05/12/2020), this incident began when CBS News reporter Wejia Jiang asked Trump why he insisted that the United States fare better than other countries when discussing the Corona test.
“Why is that important?” Jiang asked at a press conference held outdoors in Rose Garden, the White House, Washington DC. “Why is it a global competition when Americans lose their lives every day?” he asked again.
Trump replied to Jiang: “They lost their lives anywhere in the world.”
“And maybe that’s a question you have to ask China. Don’t ask me, ask China, okay?” Trump added.
Jiang, who identified himself in his Twitter bio as “a Chinese-born West Virginia resident,” urged Trump on the purpose of his statement.
“Sir, why did you tell me that specifically?” Jiang asked, implying that it was because of his race.
Trump replied, “I say that to whom I will ask such wicked questions.”
