JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said that DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan requested the central government to take over the coordination of Covid-19 management in the areas of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek).

“The governor is coordinating with the central government, hoping that later the central government can take over, lead,” Riza said at DKI Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (1/19/2021).

According to Riza, Anies’ request was related to the current condition that health centers in Jakarta are overwhelmed by patients from outside Jakarta.

If the central government takes over, it is expected that health facilities in Jakarta’s buffer zones will be able to increase and health facilities in Jakarta will once again have good beds available.

“So that there is an increase in the facilities around Bodetabek, so that the availability of the facilities in Jakarta can continue to increase, but the occupancy decreases,” Riza said.

He explained that the central government should take the coordination between the regions related to the management of Covid-19 not only in terms of the moment to implement large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) simultaneously.

According to Ariza, the central government must be present when health facilities between regions begin to be affected because other regions do not have the same health facilities.

“We hope that this policy will continue to improve, not only in substance, in material, but also in equalization, but it is also necessary to improve several health facilities,” he said.

He explained that the isolation facility for Covid-19 patients in DKI Jakarta as of January 17, 2021 was 87 percent full. Of that number, 24 percent of the patients are residents outside of Jakarta.

The isolation beds of 101 Covid-19 referral hospitals were 7,827 beds. Of that number, up to 6,816 beds have been filled. Meanwhile, the level of use of ICU beds, of the 101 Covid-19 referral hospitals, was used by 82 percent. Of the 1,063 ICU beds, 871 were already occupied.
